Εξερευνάται η χρήση μεθόδων ανίχνευσης με ακτίνες Χ στη διαδικασία ανακύκλωσης PCB και κατά πόσο αυτή μπορεί να αυξήσει την αποδοτικότητα ανάκτησης χρήσιμων και πολύτιμων υλών από το τελικό προϊόν. Πραγματοποιήθηκε πείραμα όπου συγκρίθηκαν δείγματα πλακετών δυο διαφορετικών εταιρειών πριν και μετά τη θραύση τους. Από τα αποτελέσματα του πειράματος είναι δυνατό να κρίνουμε αν οι ακτίνες Χ μπορούν να χρησιμοποιηθούν για την ανίχνευση και τον διαχωρισμό των πλακετών προτού πραγματοποιηθεί θραύση τους και άρα αυτές να διαχωριστούν εκ των προτέρων ώστε στις μετέπειτα διεργασίες ο διαχωρισμός των υλικών που τα συνθέτουν να είναι ευκολότερος και πιο αποδοτικός. Αυτό είναι εφικτό από την εφαρμογή ειδικών διεργασιών ανάλογα το υλικό περιεχόμενο των πλακετών το οποίο γίνεται γνωστό κατά την ανίχνευση.
