The last two decades, the processing of mathematical formulas has received more attention and a number of research efforts have focused on their syntactic analysis and recognition. This paper focuses on the methodologies used to process mathematical formulas in documents, specifically on the parsing methods. Initially, we offer a short overview of the parsing methods selected and classified into two categories (Top-down and Bottom-up).
