         </efrbr-expression:formOfExpression><efrbr-expression:dateOfExpression type="issued">2020-09-03</efrbr-expression:dateOfExpression><efrbr-expression:dateOfExpression type="published">2019</efrbr-expression:dateOfExpression><efrbr-expression:languageOfExpression vocabulary="iso639-1">el</efrbr-expression:languageOfExpression><efrbr-expression:summarizationOfContent>Ο σκοπός της εργασίας είναι μελέτη της  διαδικασίας  κατασκευής της  εικόνας της Κρήτης  στον διεθνή χώρο κατά τη διάρκεια  ενός αιώνα, 1840-1940, μέσω των  ταξιδιωτικών οδηγών που εκδίδονται στην Ευρώπη εκείνη την εποχή.
Αντικείμενο της εργασίας αποτελούν οι πρώτοι ταξιδιωτικοί οδηγοί για την Ελλάδα των αγγλικών εκδόσεων John Murray και των γερμανικών εκδόσεων Karl Baedeker, οι οποίοι παρουσιάζουν  συγκεκριμένη εικόνα και αντίληψη για το νησί (πολιτισμικό και φυσικό τοπίο) στον διεθνή χώρο, η οποία και μελετάται. Παράλληλα ερευνώνται οι ενέργειες  που γίνονται για την προβολή και την κατασκευή της εικόνας της Κρήτης από την πλευρά της διοίκησης του νησιού.
Η παρούσα εργασία καλείται να απαντήσει σε ερωτήματα όπως :
-Πως παρουσιάζονται τα μνημεία, οι πόλεις και το φυσικό περιβάλλον της Κρήτης μέσα από τους ταξιδιωτικούς οδηγούς των εκδόσεων Murray και πως στους ταξιδιωτικούς οδηγούς των εκδόσεων Baedeker;  Που κατευθύνεται το ενδιαφέρον των οδηγών και πως αλλάζει στη πορεία του χρόνου; Ποιες οι διαφορές των δύο εκδόσεων στην προσέγγιση και προβολή του νησιού;
-  Πως επιδρούν οι αλλαγές των πολιτικοκοινωνικών συνθηκών  και των νέων  ανακαλύψεων στην Κρήτη   στην διαμόρφωση της εικόνας  της  έτσι όπως αυτή παρουσιάζεται στον διεθνή χώρο μέσω των ταξιδιωτικών οδηγών;
