Ως προς την επίτευξη αυτού του σκοπού διερευνάται και συγκρίνεται το έργο δύο αρχιτεκτόνων που συνδέουν τη χρήση των spolia με την ανάκτηση του τόπου και την ανάκληση της συλλογικής μνήμης. Οι αρχιτέκτονες είναι ο Δημήτρης Πικιώνης της Ελλάδας του 70 και ο Wang Shu στη σύγχρονη παγκοσμιοποιημένη Κίνα.
