Η χρονική περίοδος που μας απασχολεί, αφορά την περίοδο ακμής  της Κύμης και εκτείνεται από τη σύσταση του ελληνικού κράτος μέχρι τις αρχές  του 20ου αιώνα.
Μελετώνται τα δάνεια από την ευρωπαϊκή αρχιτεκτονική , ο διάλογος που ανέπτυξαν με την ανώνυμη αρχιτεκτονική της ευβοϊκής πόλης και επιχειρείται η ερμηνεία τους καθώς και η ανθεκτικότητα της  παραδοσιακής αρχιτεκτονικής και πόλης στα ρεύματα αυτά εντοπισμένη στο πεδίο της τυπολογίας της κατοικίας. Αντικείμενο της  έρευνας αποτελούν  τα κτήρια που εντάσσονται στο ρεύμα αυτό και αφορούν δημόσια και ιδιωτικά  οικοδομήματα  του οικισμού.
