Αρχικά αναλύονται η έννοια, οι παράγοντες οι στρατηγικές και οι συνιστώσες του κινδύνου χώρας. Ακολουθεί μια παρουσίαση των οίκων αξιολόγησης πιστοληπτικής ικανότητας και πραγματοποιείται μια βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση διαφόρων μεθοδολογικών προσεγγίσεων στην εκτίμηση του κινδύνου χώρας και περιγραφή αυτών. Εν συνεχεία, επιχειρείται  μια εμπειρική προσέγγιση , στο πλαίσιο της οποίας περιγράφονται τα δεδομένα και η μεθοδολογία, ακολουθούμενα από τα συμπεράσματα της έρευνας και μελλοντικές κατευθύνσεις.
