Αρχικά, με σκοπό να οριστεί το πλαίσιο διερεύνησης της μελέτης, γίνεται αναφορά στην έννοια του τόπου από τη φαινομενολογική και τη νομαδική άποψη, καθώς επίσης και στην έννοια της μνήμης και στο πως αυτή διαμορφώνει τον τόπο μέσα από την τέλεσή της. Στη συνέχεια  πραγματοποιείται μία εισαγωγή στο έργο του Enric Miralles. Παρουσιάζονται η σκέψη και οι προθέσεις του, η σχεδιαστική μέθοδος που ακολουθεί και η έρευνα που πραγματοποιεί πριν και μετά την κατασκευή, μέσω της φωτογραφίας και του collage. Έπειτα πραγματοποιείται μία μετάβαση από το σχέδιο στο κτισμένο έργο και παρουσιάζονται στοιχεία της αρχιτεκτονικής του, μέσα από το υλοποιημένο παράδειγμα ''Κοιμητήριο - Πάρκο στην Igualada''. Το ζήτημα που προκύπτει είναι το πως οι αρχιτεκτονικές κατασκευές (νοητικές και υλικές) συμβάλλουν στη μεταφορά και έκφραση της μνήμης και κατ' επέκταση στη σύνδεση της αρχιτεκτονικής με τον τόπο. Οι κατασκευές αυτές μετατρέπουν το προσωπικό βίωμα του αρχιτέκτονα, σε συλλογική μνήμη του τόπου στον οποίο αναφέρεται, καθώς το αρχιτεκτόνημα γίνεται κομμάτι της ζωής των κατοίκων του τόπου.
