Firstly, a literature review of the sampling procedures is made, highlighting the problems, advantages, disadvantages and types of fluid that can be sampled each time. Then a quality testing for the samples is accomplished in order to judge the representativity of the oil sample by taking into account the reported sampling conditions and, if separator samples are used, the compatibility of the recombined gas and oil. The best samples undergo PVT tests in order to determine basic thermodynamic properties and composition. Confidence on the validity of the PVT report data is of upmost importance since it is applied to practically all reservoir or production engineering applications. So, a review of the quality check of the PVT experiments is accomplished by utilizing a mass balance method and other thermodynamic graphical techniques. Several tools are employed in Excel for testing the consistency of the reported phase behavior data of PVT study. Oil samples from Tunisia, Congo and unknown locations (fluid 9 and fluid X) are examined for their quality PVT report. It is concluded that the PVT properties of the given PVT analysis report are in most cases and tests well specified.
