The observed sensitivity for ashed biological tissue or blood samples varies from 0.01 to 0.5 ppm for Z varying from 20 to 45 for the K-lines and similarly for Z from 50 to 90 for the L-lines. Gaseous targts are analysed by irradiation in a special cell. The sensitivities vary between 1 and 10 ppm at atmospheric pressure. Liquid samples are prepared by liquid deposition on various porous backings and the observed detectable limits are again in the sub-ppm level.
