We evaluate a CAD/CAE application for automating the whole design process. The process is modelled using Top-Down design methodology and skeleton models. Product design depends on limited input parameters, obtained from product specification and customer needs. Using parametric design, the 3-D solid model of the product assembly, the drawings, the customised BOM for all subsystems, and the G-Codes for all sheet metal parts are automatically calculated. The new methodology significantly contributes to the complete automation of the design.
