under general loading conditions, using piezoelectric patch
actuators that are surface bonded onto beams to provide the
control forces. To formulate the model, we use beam superconvergent
finite elements based on two mathematical
models, namely the shear-deformable (Timoshenko) and
the shear-indeformable (Euler-Bernoulli) model. The
optimal values for the locations of the piezo-actuators are
determined. Using genetic algorithm, optimal voltages for
