Tsanis, J. Wu Department of Civil Engineering, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada L8S 4L7 ABSTRACT A hydrodynamic model which includes the advective acceleration and eddy viscosity terms is used to predict the circulation in the nearshore areas around Sarnia Bay. Coupled with the circulation model a two-dimensional pollutant transport model which includes the advection, diffusion and decay terms is used to predict the spatial and temporal distribution of the fecal coliform bacteria. The model system allows time dependent inflow/outflow discharges and bacterial fluxes from storm sewers, combined sewer outflows and tributaries. A case of storm loading and post recovery in Sarnia Bay has been simulated to demonstrate the applicability of the model.
