Our focus is on measuring the efficiency of the continuous variable transmission system, namely, the Electronic Shift Variable Transmission (ESVT), which is presented here in a lightweight conceptually simple design as part of the powertrain of a hydrogen fuel cell powered urban vehicle, developed at the Technical University of Crete. To evaluate ESVT's operational ability, a laboratory testbed was developed, mainly to imitate full scale driving conditions in terms of power needs for various external loads.
