Τα μέτρα που χρησιμοποιούνται για την εξοικονόμηση ενέργειας ποικίλουν και μέσα από διαφορετικά κριτήρια όπως η ενεργειακή κατανάλωση, το επενδυτικό κόστος και η εκπομπή ρύπων, ο αποφασίζων πρέπει να λάβει τις καλύτερες αποφάσεις. Πολλές φορές, τα κριτήρια είναι ανταγωνιστικά και έτσι δημιουργείται ένα πολυστοχικό πρόβλημα λήψης αποφάσεων για το οποίο διάφορες τεχνικές μπορούν να χρησιμοποιηθούν όπως οι τεχνικές προσομοίωσης και οι τεχνικές πολυκριτήριας ανάλυσης. Στην παρούσα εργασία, αναπτύσσεται ένα σύστημα υποστήριξης αποφάσεων με σκοπό τη βελτίωση της ενεργειακής διαχείρισης κτιρίων, δίνοντας βάρος στις προτιμήσεις του αποφασίζοντα. Τα κριτήρια που έχουν χρησιμοποιηθεί είναι η ετήσια κατανάλωση πρωτογενούς ενέργειας, οι ετήσιες εκπομπές CO2 και το κόστος επένδυσης. Η βελτιστοποίηση των κριτηρίων πραγματοποιείται με χρήση εξελικτικού-γενετικού αλγορίθμου που ενσωματώθηκε στην εφαρμογή GREENY, η οποία αναπτύχθηκε σε περιβάλλον MATLAB και δίνει την δυνατότητα μέσα από ένα σύγχρονο γραφικό περιβάλλον να γίνει χρήση του γενετικού αλγορίθμου και των δεδομένων του προβλήματος.
Η δομή της παρούσας εργασίας αρχίζει με το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο και τη βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση ενώ στην συνέχεια παρατίθεται το μαθηματικό πρότυπο, η δομή και λειτουργία του γενετικού αλγορίθμου και ένα παράδειγμα χρήσης της εφαρμογής GREENY, καταλήγοντας σε χρήσιμα συμπεράσματα και προτάσεις για την βελτίωση της παρούσας αντιμετώπισης του προβλήματος της ενεργειακής διαχείρισης κτιρίων.
