κοινωνία της γνώσης μέσω του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινωνικού Ταμείου.</efrbr-expression:otherDistinguishingCharacteristic><efrbr-expression:summarizationOfContent>Τα γλοιώματα είναι από τους σοβαρότερους και συχνότερους κακοήθεις όγκους του εγκεφάλου. Οι ασθενείς έχουν συνήθως χαμηλό προσδόκιμο Σωής. Το σημαντικότερο πρόβλημα στην διάγνωσή τους είναι η ταχύτατη διήθηση των καρκινικών κυττάρων στους γειτονικούς φυσιολογικούς ιστούς.  ́Εχουν δημιουργηθεί διάφορα μαθηματικά μοντέλα μερικών διαφορικών εξισώσεων, στηριζόμενα σε πειραματικά δεδομένα αξονικών και μαγνητικών τομογραφιών, για να προσομοιάσουν την εξέλιξη των καρκινικών όγκων στον εγκέφαλο. Στην παρούσα εργασία το μοντέλο για την προσομοίωση της διάχυσης των καρκινικών που μελετάται έχει ως βασικό του χαρακτηριστικό κυττάρων την ασυνέχεια που εμφανίζεται στον συντελεστή διάχυσης λόγω της ετερογένειας του εγκεφάλου (λευκή και φαιά ουσία). Στη συνέχεια, σ ́ αυτό το μαθηματικό μοντέλο γίνεται εφαρμογή της μεθόδου του Φωκά, μιας νέας ημι-αναλυτικής μεθόδου από την οποία δίνεται με ολοκληρώματα η λύση των διαφορικών εξισώσεων.
