The course aimed at familiarizing students with popular academic genres and training them to use effective academic online searching and sourcing strategies. The theories underpinning the course design and materials' development included the MSL approach, metacognitive-genre awareness and cognitive apprenticeship. Data were gathered via semi-structured individual interviews.
