Summary

Human engagement in activities imposed by nature to meet daily needs has evolved from ancient times to the present day, now serving as a catalyst for various excursions and forms of tourism. The progress of humanity and the phenomenon of urbanization have facilitated these movements of people, offering opportunities for contact with the natural landscape for entertainment purposes.In an effort to understand the relationship between humans and mountainous regions, this research focuses on the origins of skiing and winter tourism, examining the history of ski infrastructure and the development of corresponding resorts. Additionally, it explores their evolution into four chronological generations that exhibit different morphological and design elements.However, in today's era, climate change affects the smooth operation of these ski resorts, which in turn strive to find sustainable development models. Thus, through the analysis of the evolution and spatial positioning of four characteristic examples of ski attractions, one from each chronological generation, we seek the existence of viable design tools used in the effort of coexistence and dialogue with the natural environment, as well as prospects for the future that emphasize landscape preservation.
