The Web Thing Model of W3C defines a framework for integrating Things (e.g. devices) in the Web. It defines an information representation for Things based on JSON along with a set of RESTful services that enable access of Things on the Web. The Web Thing Model service (WTMs) is a novel implementation of the model and is compared against existing implementations selected from the Web. JSON Thing Descriptions (TD) and the operations supported by the REST API are the criteria to determine whether an implementation of Web Thing Model is according to the W3C model. We show that WTMs is the most complete implementation based on the requirements of the model. As a proof of concept, we show how WTMs can be integrated within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for the IoT in order to support full-fledged Web Thing Model functionality.
