Summary

This research paper explores the looming practices and experiences of the space that take place in "small co-housing", in a young age range, in the modern condition of living and focuses on the city of Chania. It raises the question of how architecture will respond to the changing political, cultural, social and economic events of the time, while the context of collective dwelling is seen to be spreading more and more as a practice, offering a solution to the issue of housing.Within the process of social production, space is also produced, during this process man transforms himself, his consciousness and society. Every production process is generally a learning process. If we consider that architecture is produced for its users it is reasonable to observe their behavior, their practices and the way they use space to decipher needs and desires and possibly learn new ways of living together and design new models of habitation for the new and constantly changing conditions. The aim of the research work is to study the survival of unconventional or idiosyncratic models of cohabitation as well as the social context in which they are located, with the aim of understanding and analyzing so that these models of habitation contribute to the study of the familiar space, both in its material dimension and and in detecting the relationships that develop between users. The participants of the co-housing are the active users of the space and through their perception of it we can understand their spatial practice and daily life as a living, continuously created and intertwined action that is translated into material reality.
