Summary

In this thesis, we consider the food sector in Greece for the period 2015-2020 to be investigated and analyzed. The importance that was given from antiquity to nutrition, which to this day forms one of the most important sectors of the Greek economy, is one of the reasons that led to this study. For the analysis of the industry, it was selected a sample consisting of fourteen (14) food companies based on two different criteria. The eight (8) of which are listed on the Athens Stock Exchange and the remaining six (6) were selected based on the criteria of very large companies. For this analysis, the method of financial analysis with the use of ratios was preferred to reliably study and compare the economic course of the industry in the period under review. Finally, to strengthen the validity of the performance appraisal of food companies and to rank companies using financial criteria, the multi-criteria PROMETHEE ΙΙ method was used.
