In recent years, the use of mobile phones has increased rapidly and they are now an integral part of people's daily lives. The possibilities they offer are limitless and users tend to use them more and more. This huge acceptance of mobile phones by the consumer public has resulted in the creation and development of more and more applications that aim to simplify and facilitate people in various aspects of their daily lives. The purpose of this diploma thesis is to create a social interaction application in a university environment, called TUCMEET, which will work effectively, both on Android and iOS platforms, focusing on the interface with the end user. The motivation for the development of this application is the development of relationships between the students of the Technical University of Crete (TUC) and the facilitation of their interaction with TUC groups through a user-friendly and easily understandable application. The problem that this software solves is the need to create friendly relationships between students who have problems adapting to the TUC community, regardless of year of admission and school of study. In terms of application development, the detailed design and development of the user interface of the TUCMEET application was achieved by a set of technologies, such as React Native, Redux and Expo. These technologies were selected after research based on the features and challenges of the application. The final result of this application can be a pivotal point in the easy and smooth adaptation of students to their daily life and especially in an environment that has been affected by the pandemic.
