Summary

The purpose of this study is the investigation of circular energy models referring to human habitation and the emergence of modern designing tools that can contribute to a sustainable way of living. Human activity must be directed towards the development and prosperity of both human and natural ecosystems that support and create a framework of his survival and actions on planet Earth. According to this study, the environmental design and sustainability of the cities, as they emerge through the areas of Sustainable Development and Permaculture, have been inspiring and valuable design tools for the Architect. A key point of intersection is the circular resources management in order to achieve self-feed human ecosystems, which are designed with the contribution of modern technological applications, enabling the creation of habitation models that meet the sustainable goals of both sectors. Tsivaras and ‘Regen village’ are both examples of sustainable design which have been examined in the present study.
