Wind and photovoltaic technologies, types of Renewable Energy Sources, are exploited traditionally in Crete due to favorable conditions, which prevail in the island, with great development in recent years. Their contribution to the volume of total production is considerable as they restrict the operation of costly conventional units. Under current legislation, there is potential of exploiting the above forms of energy and selling them to energy suppliers including domestic producers and large companies. This project studies the installation of photovoltaic panels with batteries in the company of Public Bus Services of Chania-Rethymno in the city of Chania to meet its needs for electricity autonomy for one day. Furthermore, it investigates the participation of the bus station of Chania in the net-metering program for the sale of surplus electricity to electricity providers. Also, a financial analysis of the study is presented, taking out an installment loan with a fixed-interest resulting in profitable investment for the business. In addition, with regard to future investment, a reference is made to the installation of charging pumps of electric buses, with an increase in photovoltaic panels and in accumulators to support the pump. The programs Sketchup and PVsyst were used in order to conduct the study in the bus station. The former was used for the design of a photovoltaic station in the building, while the latter presented a simulation in order to receive the output data in the final report.
