Content SummaryOne of the challenges of Total Safety Management (TSM) is the modeling of interactions of business processes involved in safety, quality and production. This chapter explores the use of systems dynamics in the context of TSM in order to examine the interactions of safety with other organizational domains and looks at the time dynamics of Key Performance Indicators in the near future. System dynamics have been used in the past for modeling the interactions of business processes in finance, production and quality control. System dynamics represent systems as causal loop diagrams showing the control loops and influences stemming from internal and external variables. The interactions between production and safety take place within a wider organizational context that also includes other control structures such as human resources management and task management. The human resources system regards the processes of hiring new workers, tracking their work experience and estimating their influences on worker productivity.en
