Summary

In this postgraduate thesis, synthetic seismic reflection data were created in a marine area in the Southern Ionian with the aim of selecting the optimal parameters and techniques both at the collection stage and at the actual data processing stage. To create them, Matlab software (TM) was used in the applied geophysics laboratory of the Technical University of Crete, which is based on the method of finite differences. Using data from existing seismic reflection data as well as geological information from the wider area, a seismic model 17500 m long and 12000 m deep was constructed. The first step was to classify the synthetic data from a common source in common intermediate recordings. This was followed by a correction of normal time deviation, followed by seismic cross-sectional cross-sections using all traces or some of those corresponding to sources close to the seismic source hydrophones (partial overvoltage). In the seismic section of partial overlap which better depicts the reflectors, seismic location techniques were applied for the reconstruction of the reflectors and their placement in the correct position. The methods of seismic location of Kirchoff, finite differences and the method of phase shift in the frequency range were used. In particular, ten tests were performed for seismic models where the seismic velocity or average square velocity depends on the position of the common intermediate point and the double vertical time. The optimal location of the seismic section was obtained by the Phase Shift method in the frequency range. Finally, the comparison of this spatial section with the original geological model showed that the choice of experiment parameters as well as processing methods is optimal, as the seismic reflection reflects the reflectors very well.
