Summary

The purpose of this project is to investigate the optimal configuration of the Amari Hybrid Power Station (HPS), including the sizing of its individual components and the selection of the guaranteed capacity of the station. The purpose of this project is to investigate the rejected energy from the non-interconnected electricity system of Crete. Taking into account the rejected energy of Crete for 2015 as given by the lab of hydraulic machines of National Technical University a research will take place about the optimal configuration of the Amari Hybrid Power Station (HPS), including the sizing of its individual components and the selection of the guaranteed capacity of the station. The energy discharged from the wind farms of Crete is absorbed by the pumping plant and converted to hydraulic. This is achieved by pumping the water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir. For optimization, Net Present Value is used as a criterion for an investment life cycle of 25 years. The dimensioning of the above components is based on mathematical simulation results of the system operation that is performed in the Matlab programming tool.
