The present research attempts to explore and highlight the elements thatcreate an intimate space, investigating at the same time ambiguous spacessuch as ruins, in which the familiar is not visible at first glance, focusingfinally at residence as a major spatial imprint of intimacy.It will be initially analyzed the condition of spatial intimacy in terms ofconcepts such as atmosphere, crypticity, tactility. Furthermore, in order to tryto explore the familiar in all of it’s coordinates, an approach will be made ofthe ruin as the spatial boundary between the familiar and the unfamiliar. Toconclude with, tangible architectural examples of residences will be presented,rendering and bringing spatial and synthetic conditions of intimacy.
