During the construction of S.N.F.C.C (Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center), archaeological findings of the archaic cemetery were discovered throughout the park (formerly Hippodrome of Phaleron). One of the main findings, which also gave rise to the initiation of this thesis, consisted of dozen of aligned iron-bearing skeletons condemned to death (“Desmotes” – from the Greek word “desma” which means shackles). Due to the fact that these findings are extremely fragile, their removal and transport to another place is prohibited. Hence, the study area of this thesis is defined by these findings within the limits of Esplanada. This project deals with the creation of a museum that attempts to attribute honours to the dead of this cemetery asa symbolic reflection of terrestrial life. Furthermore, it is of great importance to our study, the correlation between the viewer and the exhibits, since their tense subject matter.
