Summary

The information age highlights a wide range of parameters that affect to a similar extent the way we understand the city through a spatial science that attempts to take into account areas of social interactions, economy, politics to serve the needs of society in the design context . Recognizing the complexity of a system like the city, in this work we tried to create a research background to answer theoretically and practically how the architecture sector can now evolve to meet today's needs. As a necessary start to understanding this transition, an introduction to a new way of architectural thinking was attempted, on the basis of which the perception of form formation is replaced by the form search process. This reasoning raises new questions and areas of concern to architects and designers who are asked to seek answers to theories that until recently were of little importance to the industry, such as complexity theory and network structures.The effort to manage complexity and integrate it into the design process leads architects to the strategic process of resolving the node (network), in which the interest and attention of designers is directed from the central idea of composition to the emergence of relations developed between different elements, which, through the processing and correlation of a number of parameters, lead to emerging results, usually through collective activities they develop. The assembly theory is for this work the occasion for presenting an ontology on the morphogenesis of sets consisting of separate parts and the perception of existing systems as such in order to understand the complexity of the city.Then the implementation of digital processes of analysis and processing of parameters in the architectural design, combined with the assembling theory as it was developed by its main exponents, seems to change the way we intervene in the modern city. It can also be expressed as a reason for building a new, different way of architectural thinking, which, unlike older practices, will capture the city as a set of interacting elements.More specifically in architecture, the more complex approaches to complexity, presented above, are an example of increasing the possibility of analyzing relationships and interactions between the city.Density and Relationship Analysis through Fractal Structures, Intermediate Centricity, Connectivity and Scenario Development through Cellular Automata, the analysis of the city as a system of nodes and their in-depth processing and association through Neural Networks, and the in-depth study of through Continuation Maps, highlight the possibility of evolving architecture by introducing and exploiting analyzes from other areas of science with a view to creating a complete design elemental background of frozen information, which seems a necessary tool for the modern architect. More generally, however, these techniques can be seen as a means of understanding the complexity of network systems by the architect and as a means of re-encoding information in an architectural plan. It is an instrument that seems to optimize its effects when it is addressed interdisciplinary.The way this system works, unlike traditional methods, introduces the element of unpredictability in design.Unpredictability, through automation, is inherent in this process, as much of it takes place directly, using the complex computational systems as discussed above. Then and from this stage, comes the point that conscious design is still the crucial element. After her stageanalysis at a synthetic level, the processing of an output result from a digital processing system can not be superficial. It is rather more useful to treat as a possible choice or key element upon which the architect is required to adapt any other decision during the design process , since it has now taken into account a considerable number of parameters.Developing and studying the issues that arise in this way is the basis for a deeper understanding of the design itself, and the final results are important, but even greater is the process from which they have emerged.
