Summary

The Venetian villa, located in Katochori, Keramia, is a typical example of a feudal residence of the late Venetian era and is distinguished by its elaborate construction. The aim of this thesis is to submit a proposal for the morphological restoration of the monument by defying the basic questions posed by the theory of conservation and the restoration of an architectural work. Acknowledging the subsequent interventions that took place in the monument, an attempt was made to redeem the original form of the villa during the Venetian period, since in combination with the two adjoining temples, it can be attributed as a complex of secular and ecclesiastical architecture of the Cretan countryside. In this way, it is highlighted the uniqueness of the complex in Greece’s area and it is emphasized that the restoration of the villa is an imperative need for the further enhancement of the cultural heritage of the wider region.
