Summary

The objective target of this thesis is the collection, the analysis, and the categorization of data and various information regarding the value and utilization (exploitation) of lands (housing, real estate, business etc.) that belong to Akrotiri’s municipality . Moreover, this particular dissertation explores the history , the geography , the climate , and the economic and business activities that are taking place in the Akrotiri’s municipality as also the rules and legislations that are closely linked with the use and licensing of this particular area. Furthermore , in this thesis , there was a wide use of GIS software , in order to create many different maps , which illustrate through diagrams , pies , and other statistical tools , the value and usage of the land . Also, after a close examination and consideration of the data and the numerical results, there is a critical review and observation of the current usage and exploitation of Akrotiri’s municipality area as well as an analysis on the advantages and disadvantages (pros and cons) of the area, the current capabilities, and the future perspectives. Finally, the last stage of the thesis is dedicated to suggestions and recommendations of various and diverse measures, for a more prosperous and more developed Akrotiri, with the optimal usage of the land being the key for an economic growth.
