The exact analytical model of distributed queue dual bus (DQDB) is known to have a state space explosion problem which makes its analysis intractable. The approximate single-node analytical model, introduced by C. Bisdikian (1990) and extended by the authors (1992), has been proven to be a tractable model capable of providing valuable insight into the DQDB network behavior. It is shown how to use the single-node model to approximately evaluate message delay of individual nodes for an entire network. The difficulties involved in applying the single-node model networkwide and approaches to dealing with those difficulties are discussed. Some representative approximate mean message delay results are shown. It is believed that the work presented extends the practical significance of the single-node analytical model of DQDB
