Content Summary | A modular Petri net based methodology for the modeling, analysis and performance evaluation of production systems has been introduced in our previous works. According to this methodology, production systems are decomposed in a small number of fundamental subsystems and the models of the individual subsystems are connected to synthesize the overall system model. The modeling and further processing of the production systems can be accomplished using standard Semantic Web technologies. This allows the utilization of standard tools and supports the interoperability of different production system designs. In this work we introduce an ontology for the semantic description of modular production systems, which is the basis for the development of a semantic-based framework for modular production system simulation and processing. | en |
