Summary

This paper presents the Agent SystEms MEthodology (ASEME) fordeveloping multi-agent systems. ASEME proposes a modular agent designapproach and introduces the concept of intra-agent control. The latter definesthe agent’s lifecycle by coordinating the different modules that implement hiscapabilities. The modeling of the intra-agent control is based on statecharts. Theanalysis phase builds on the concepts of capability and functionality. ASEMEcovers all the phases of the software development process and deals with boththe individual and societal aspect of the agents. However, in this paper we focusin presenting only the individual agent development process.
