According to the assessment strategy which applies the Department of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete, a multicriteria analysis methodology has been implemented since 1997, which is based on the analysis of preferences of undergraduate students, graduates and organizations. Generally speaking, the academic assessment constitutes one topic of major interest for research in higher education, as it focuses on the: quality of teaching, continuous improvementof the whole process and connection with the labor market needs. This paper presents an original study, which deals with the internal assessment process in which have been participated undergraduate students of the aforementioned Engineering Department. This research is applied on a yearly base since year 2003; therefore, the results of the comparative assessment for years 2003 until 2012 are presented. The methodology applied is based on the principles of multicriteria analysis and more specific on the multicriteria satisfaction analysis of the students. Among the most important results of the assessment is the determination of the critical criteria for every year, which affect the satisfaction level of the undergraduate students. Moreover, interesting results can be considered the following: the global satisfaction index per year, the satisfaction indices per criterion, the weights per criterion, and the proposed actions for further improvement.
