Summary

Knowledge discovery in databases, or KDD for short, represents an active area of research with a handful of fielded industrial applications in place. KDD fits the definition of a process; starting from a mass of raw data we strive to generate knowledge, which should be both useful and interesting according to the objectives of the application.
