This paper presents modeling and vibration control of thin plates taking into account defects. The classical plate theory is used for the finite element model. The defects are modeled by equivalent change of the elastic modulus of the corresponding element. Active LQR and LQG/H2 control design is implemented for the plates supplied with sensors and actuators. The influence of the placement of the defects and of the control forces on the vibration controlling is investigated. Numerical simulations are carried out in order to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed control strategies.
