Summary

The scope of this thesis is whether an autonomous hybrid renewable energy-based power system which is not connected to the grid can satisfy the needs of a user. The system consists of photovoltaic arrays as main energy source, a pem fuel cell, an electrolyzer and a hydrogen storage tank. The fuel cell consumes hydrogen, which is produced in the electrolyzer using the excess power from the pv arrays, and is used to meet the load needs when necessary (during the night). There are no emissions from the system and it is a reliable and environmental friendly solution. For the modeling and simulation of this system Matlab Simulink was used.
