This research examines the 'in-between space' in organized housing environments, which is a model of urban living capable of reshaping the contemporary way of living. Initially, through the historical evolution of organized housing construction and the clarification of the terms private - intermediate - public, the relationships between them and the dynamics they have in enhancing social cohesion are investigated. Then, the quality of the intermediate space is examined, through the study of European examples, particularly useful for solving the needs of contemporary cities, depending on the scale of planning and the type of occupation of each case study (social, collective, etc.). Also, the role of the intermediate space in linking the community with the wider region is also studied, as are the spatial practices that enhance social interaction in these spaces. Finally, emphasis is placed on how the intermediate space in the context of organized housing construction can stimulate social interaction, depending on the accessibility and direct visual contact offered by the public space.
