In this thesis, the problem of production scheduling of a lubricant product packaging unit is studied. In the system under consideration, a number of different product types are produced which may be processed in more than one machines and there are setup times. The goal is to find production programs, in which the processing machine of the various products (tasks) will be determined, as well as the sequence of execution of the tasks in each machine, in such a way as to minimize the total time of completion of the tasks. Due to the computational complexity of the above problem, good heuristic policies/algorithms that will produce satisfactory suboptimal production schedules will be sought.
