Content Summary	Η διατριβή επιχειρεί μια συστηματική διερεύνηση της βιντεοτέχνης στην Ελλάδα από τα τέλη δεκαετίας του ’70 έως τις αρχές του 21ου αιώνα. Η βιντεοτέχνη αντιμετωπίζεται ως ένα ενιαίο και ταυτόχρονα πολυδιάστατο φαινόμενο που αναδύεται και αναπτύσσεται με ριζωματικό και υβριδικό τρόπο, μέσα από πολλαπλά πεδία και τάσεις της μοντέρνας και μεταμοντέρνας τέχνης. Βασικός στόχος της διατριβής είναι να ανιχνευθούν και να αναδειχθούν συνδέσεις ανάμεσα στις διαφορετικές εκφάνσεις και εκδοχές της χρήσης του βίντεο ως εκφραστικού μέσου και να επιχειρηθεί μια ενιαία αφήγηση τόσο της ελληνικής καλλιτεχνικής παραγωγής, όσο και των τρόπων και των χώρων παρουσίασης και προώθησης της ελληνικής βιντεοτέχνης στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό. Αρχικά, διερευνάται το θεωρητικό και ιστορικό υπόβαθρο της βιντεοτέχνης διεθνώς, τα ζητήματα που προκύπτουν από τη ρευστή και υβριδική φύση του μέσου, οι σύγχρονες τάσεις της ιστοριογραφικής έρευνας, καθώς και η έως τώρα υπάρχουσα βιβλιογραφία για τη βιντεοτέχνη στην Ελλάδα. Στη συνέχεια διερευνώνται το πλαίσιο και η υποδοχή της βιντεοτέχνης στην Ελλάδα, μέσα από διάφορες παραμέτρους, όπως οι συνθήκες δημιουργίας, παραγωγής και παρουσίασης, ο λόγος των Ελλήνων καλλιτεχνών που ασχολήθηκαν με το βίντεο, η υποδοχή της βιντεοτέχνης από την τεχνοκριτική και η συμπερίληψη της ελληνικής βιντεοτέχνης στις μεγάλες δημόσιες και ιδιωτικές συλλογές σύγχρονης τέχνης στην Ελλάδα. Η πορεία της βιντεοτέχνης στην Ελλάδα προσεγγίζεται μέσα από την ανάλυση του έργου των Ελλήνων καλλιτεχνών που ξεκίνησαν να εντάσσουν το βίντεο στην καλλιτεχνική τους πρακτική έως το 2000, συμπεριλαμβάνοντας καλλιτέχνες που συνήθως παραλείπονται από τη μέχρι τώρα ιστορική αφήγηση. Εξετάζονται οι διαφορετικές κατευθύνσεις της βιντεοτέχνης στην Ελλάδα, με βάση κοινά μορφολογικά και εννοιολογικά στοιχεία στην καλλιτεχνική έρευνα και στο έργο των καλλιτεχνών, όχι μόνο στο εικαστικό πεδίο, αλλά και σε όλα τα πεδία σύγκλισης της βιντεοτέχνης με άλλες τέχνες ή με επιμέρους τάσεις της σύγχρονης τέχνης. Η διατριβή διερευνά επίσης τους χώρους και τις διοργανώσεις που συνέβαλαν στην ανάδειξη, την προώθηση και καθιέρωση της βιντεοτέχνης στην Ελλάδα, τόσο μέσα στο επίσημο θεσμικό πλαίσιο (θεσμικές εικαστικές εκθέσεις, επιμέλειες ιστορικών τέχνης, γκαλερί), όσο και μέσα από τις ανεξάρτητες πρωτοβουλίες των πρωτοπόρων Ελλήνων καλλιτεχνών για τη διάδοση του μέσου. Επιχειρείται μια σύνδεση της ελληνικής βιντεοτέχνης και των Ελλήνων δημιουργών με το διεθνές πλαίσιο, καταγράφοντας και εξετάζοντας τις παρουσιάσεις έργων ελληνικής βιντεοτέχνης στο εξωτερικό και τις σχέσεις/δίκτυα που αναπτύχθηκαν με καλλιτέχνες, ομάδες και οργανισμούς σε άλλες χώρες. Μέσα από την εξέταση αυτών των πεδίων, η διατριβή έχει ως στόχο να συμβάλλει στη συστηματοποίηση της έρευνας για τη βιντεοτέχνη στην Ελλάδα, συμπληρώνοντας κενά και φωτίζοντας πτυχές της ανάπτυξης της που δεν είχαν διερευνηθεί μέχρι σήμερα και δημιουργώντας ένα υπόβαθρο για την επέκταση της σχετικής ιστορικής και θεωρητικής έρευνας.	el
Content Summary	This doctoral dissertation offers a systematic examination of video art in Greece from the late 1970s to the beginnings of the 21st century. Video art is approached as a unified and at the same time multidimensional phenomenon that emerges and develops in a rhizomatic and hybrid manner, in multiple fields and trends of modern and postmodern art. The main objective of the thesis is to detect and highlight connections between the various aspects and versions of the use of video as an expressive medium and to attempt a cohesive narrative of the artistic production in Greece and the forms and spaces of presentation and promotion of Greek video art in Greece and abroad. Initially, the dissertation explores the theoretical and historical background of video art on an international level, the issues arising from the fluid and hybrid nature of the medium, the contemporary trends in historiographical research, as well as the existing bibliography on Greek video art. Then, the context and reception of video art in Greece are investigated, considering various parameters, such as the conditions of production and presentation, the discourse and the texts of Greek artists who worked with video, the reception of video art by art criticism in Greece and the inclusion of Greek video art in major public and private collections of contemporary art in Greece. The evolution of video art in Greece is approached via the analysis of the work of Greek artists who began to integrate video into their artistic practice up to 2000, including artists who are usually omitted from the historical narrative so far. Various directions of video art in Greece are examined, based on common morphological and conceptual elements in the artistic research and practice of Greek artists, not only in the field of visual arts, but also in the section of convergence of video art with other artistic fields or trends of contemporary art. The dissertation also explores the spaces and organizational efforts that contributed to the emergence, promotion and establishment of video art in Greece, both within the official institutional framework (institutional art exhibitions, curatorships by art historians, art galleries), and through the independent initiatives of pioneering Greek artists for the dissemination of the medium. It also attempts to place Greek video art and Greek creators within the international context, recording and examining the presentations of Greek video art abroad and the connections/networks that were developed with artists, groups and organizations in other countries. Through the examination of these fields, the dissertation aims to contribute to the systematization of research on video art in Greece, filling gaps and illuminating aspects of its development that had not been explored to date, and setting a foundation for the expansion of relevant historical and theoretical research.	en
