The reconstitution of the new Greek state, the disconnection from the recent past and the search for symbolisms that would emphasize the historical continuity of the Greek nation, within a spirit of Europeanization, led the most important bodies of power to adopt Western models. This research work deals with the investigation of the influence of Andrea Palladio's architecture on the architecture of Athens during the 19th century, through the study of representative building types by the most important architects of the time. The research material is organized into four chapters, each of which chronologically follows the development of a specific building type, in which a separate architect contributed each time with his work to the shaping of the urban landscape of the newly established capital. At the same time, common borrowings with Palladian architecture and the reasons that led the architects to these choices are sought.
