Nowadays, the car rental sector is an activity that is constantly evolving, contributing to the global economy while also facilitating the growth of tourism internationally. Especially in Greece, where tourism is one of the main pillars of the economy, we observe that this particular activity continues to expand. As a result, large international companies, operating on a national level including those specializing in luxury car rentals and leasing companies (long-term car rentals) have established a strong presence, offering services to tourists, professionals, and even individuals without access to transportation at the local level. What primarily concerns us is the financial performance of car rental companies over specific time periods, namely whether they are profitable or loss-making, in order to understand their impact on the country's economy. We are also interested in clarifying the strengths and weaknesses of such companies depending on their category. At the same time, it is important to explore the future sustainability of these businesses, as many factors affecting their financial performance change over time. The purpose of the following thesis is to demonstrate the economic importance of this particular sector through the execution of financial analyses of companies operating in Greece, as well as to make comparisons between them. The aim is then to forecast the future course of these companies. In this way, we will determine to what extent each company is financially robust, using financial tools such as financial ratios and data like balance sheets and income statements.
