| Content Summary | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία πραγματεύεται μια μελέτη αναφορικά με τις περιβαλλοντικές επιπτώσεις που σχετίζονται με την εξόρυξη μετάλλων σπάνιων γαιών, όσον αφορά τις τεχνολογίες των ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας και το κόστος που συνεπάγονται. Αρχικά, στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο, μέσω μιας εκτενούς βιβλιογραφικής αναφοράς, γίνεται λόγος για την ευρύτερη κατανόηση της έννοιας των σπάνιων γαιών. Αναλυτικότερα, εξετάζονται οι ορισμοί της έννοιας αυτής καθώς και η ιστορική τους εξέλιξη, μέσα από τις προσπάθειες αποσαφήνισης της. Επιπρόσθετα, υλοποιείται μια ταξινόμηση των σπάνιων γαιών, αναλύοντας τις εκάστοτε κατηγοριοποιήσεις τους όπως, λόγου χάρη, οι ελαφριές σπάνιες γαίες και οι βαριές σπάνιες γαίες. Παράλληλα αποτυπώνεται η γεωλογία των σπάνιων γαιών, καθώς επίσης και εφαρμογές τους στην καθημερινή ζωή. Τέλος, στο 1ο κεφάλαιο γίνεται εκτενής λόγος για τις χώρες παραγωγής των σπάνιων γαιών, αφενός σε μια αποτύπωση σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο κι αφετέρου στον ελλαδικό χώρο. Συνακολούθως στο 2ο κεφάλαιο, γίνεται αναφορά στις οικονομικές συσχετίσεις των σπάνιων γαιών. Πιο συγκεκριμένα η βιβλιογραφική επισκόπηση, οδήγησε στην ανάλυση των σπάνιων γαιών ως οικονομικό υπερόπλο των σύγχρονων επιχειρήσεων ανά τον κόσμο, και πως η χώρα της Κίνας, έχει αναδειχθεί σε παγκόσμια υπερδύναμη στην εκμετάλλευση συγκεκριμένων κοιτασμάτων, με μια διεθνή αναγνωσιμότητα, ενώ παράλληλα αναφέρεται κι η βιομηχανική αγορά των σπάνιων γαιών στις οικονομικά ανεπτυγμένες χώρες της σημερινής εποχής. Επιπροσθέτως, υλοποιείται η σύζευξη των εννοιών των σπάνιων γαιών και των ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας. Αναλυτικότερα, αρχικά πραγματοποιείται μια πρώτη εισαγωγική προσέγγιση για το θέμα αυτό, ενώ στη συνέχεια γίνεται αναφορά στην αξιοποίηση των σπάνιων γαιών στις ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας. Επιπλέον, οροθετούνται οι περιβαλλοντικοί κίνδυνοι κι οι τεχνολογίες ανακύκλωσης. Εν κατακλείδι, πραγματοποιείται σύγκριση των τεχνολογιών των ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας που απαιτούν σπάνιες γαίες, με αναφορές σε πλεονεκτήματα, μειονεκτήματα και στοιχεία κόστους. Στη συνέχεια, στο 4ο κεφάλαιο, υλοποιείται η ανάλυση της αξιολόγησης και εκμετάλλευσης των σπάνιων γαιών. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, γίνεται λόγος για τις πολιτικές και τους κανονισμούς γύρω από την εξόρυξη τους. Ακόμη, μέσα από την παροχή πληροφοριών της βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, αναφέρονται οι παράγοντες αξιολόγησης, με αναλυτική προσέγγιση των οικονομικών και περιβαλλοντικών παραγόντων. Τέλος, γίνεται μια σύνοψη της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας, με την καταγραφή των συμπερασμάτων, που προέκυψαν από τη μελέτη και έρευνα του συγκεκριμένου θέματος, ενώ παράλληλα παρέχεται και ο προσανατολισμός και κατευθύνσεις για μελλοντική έρευνα και περαιτέρω ανάλυση σε συγκεκριμένες πτυχές του θέματος αυτού. | el |
| Content Summary | This thesis deals with a study regarding the environmental impacts related to the mining of rare earth metals, with reference to the technologies of renewable energy sources and the costs involved. Initially, in the first chapter, through an extensive bibliographic reference, the broader understanding of the concept of rare earths is discussed. In more detail, the definitions of this concept are examined on the one hand, and their historical evolution, through the efforts to clarify the concept. In addition, a classification of rare earths is implemented, analyzing their respective categorizations, such as, for example, light rare earths and heavy rare earths. At the same time, the geology of rare earths is captured, as well as their applications in everyday life. Finally, in the 1st chapter, there is an extensive discussion about the countries producing rare earths, on the one hand, in a global perspective and on the other in the Greek area. Subsequently, in the 2nd chapter, reference is made to the economic correlations of rare earths. More specifically, the bibliographic review led to the analysis of rare earths as an economic superweapon of modern businesses around the world, and how the country of China has emerged as a global superpower in the exploitation of specific deposits, with an international recognition, while at the same time the industrial rare earth market in today's economically developed countries. In addition, the coexistence of the concepts of rare earths and renewable energy sources is realized. In more detail, initially a first introductory approach to this subject is carried out, while then reference is made to the utilization of rare earths in renewable sources. In addition, environmental risks and recycling technologies are defined. In conclusion, a comparison of renewable energy technologies requiring rare earths is made, with references to advantages, disadvantages and cost figures. Then, in the 4th chapter, the analysis of the evaluation and exploitation of rare earths is carried out. More specifically, there is talk of the policies and regulations surrounding their mining. Furthermore, through the provision of information from the bibliographic review, the evaluation factors are mentioned, with an analytical approach to economic and environmental factors. Finally, a summary of the present thesis, with the recording of the conclusions, which emerged from the study and research of the specific subject, while at the same time orientation is also provided in directions for future research and further analysis in specific aspects of this subject. | en |
