The paper examines the relationship between immersion and narrative in the theatrical space. Following the methodology of scenography, it seeks an anthropocentric approach and ways in which the theatrical experience can be enhanced.Theatre, as a living art form, has long been an environment of immersive engagement for audiences. On the contemporary stage, its boundaries are expanding, leaving room for the integration and experimentation of new approaches and technologies that transform the spectator's experience into a multi-sensory experience. On the other hand, immersive art-installation spaces (Installations) are ideal case studies. The combination of a multi-sensory approach, technological tools and the narrative embedded in the space achieves the transition of the viewer from a passive receiver to an active spectator. The aim of this research is to study the ways in which the immersion of the user in different environments is achieved and, more importantly, how scenic practice can utilize tools and techniques that enhance the theatrical experience.Through the comparative study of the two practices, the synthesis of theory and practice is attempted, proposing narrative, spatial and technological tools for designing an immersive performance. The research work aims to offer a dynamically evolving immersion toolbox, called “B4W”, into which new tools and techniques can be continuously introduced.
