The present thesis concerns a cultivation centre aimed at activating Elaionas area in Athens. The area of Elaionas is perceived as an urban void, as a place that stalks the otherwise clearly structured Attica basin, as well as a field where various social phenomena are clearly outlined. The above reasons prompted the exploration of design tools that would encourage an open dialogue between architecture and place. The Elaionas was analysed in terms of its historical evolution, the typologies and contrasts observed within its boundaries and in relation to the areas it adjoins. Subsequently, and based on the qualities identified, a unit is proposed that aims to relate and activate elements of place. More specifically, the unit has a dominant use of cultivation and supporting uses around it. In conversation with the agricultural university, the unit still has laboratories and study areas. In addition, it has a library, auditoriums and spaces that can house ventures such as a market and maker space. All of these uses are structured around four atriums, which in turn are an impact of these. The path starts from the public spaces and gradually leads to private spaces.
