The goal of this paper is to review literature, old and especially recent, related to the effort of energy production from nuclear fusion and its connection with the phenomenon of climate change. An economic analysis of the costs of future reactors and future fusion electricity is also carried out. Greater emphasis has been placed on the experimental magnetic confinement programmes in operation in various countries working together to achieve the ITER programme and on the US inertial confinement programme.
