Summary

In this thesis, we investigate the performance of multiple-input single-output (MISO) wireless systems that utilize linear metallic or plasma antennas arrays. For our analysis, we use data generated by the specialized software MIMObit. The objective of this work is to compare metallic against plasma antennas by implementing antenna selection in various scenaria. After presenting shortly the operation of plasma antennas and outlining their advantages and disadvantages, we examine thoroughly the impact of the linear array configuration in conjunction with mutual coupling on the system performance. Specifically, using MIMObit, we utilize the channel coefficients to determine the channel power for each distinct case. Subsequently, we conduct a series of multiple experiments to observe and draw comparisons regarding the performance of both metallic and plasma antennas under various antenna selection scenarios. The outcomes of these experiments enable us to draw valuable conclusions on the performance characteristics of the two antenna types.
